Associates and Collaborators
AVIS welcomes collaboration and association with complementary projects. Examples to date include:
- EMPRES: Good Emergency Management Practice (GEMP)
The objectives of AVIS are also coordinated with the FAO EMPRES action.
Planning: In order to prepare well for a possible animal disease outbreak, good planning is essential, to a high level of precision and detail.
GEMP: Following on its decision to promote a standard policy for the management of emergency situations, EMPRES has now formulated a code of practice, Good Emergency Management Practice (GEMP). This is recently released in multimedia form, both as CD-ROM and as Web site.
For details see the FAO web site.
Food Safety
From Stable to Table is a co-production of EBT Consultants Ltd. Athens, Greece and AleffGroup, London. It is the first module in a series of programs both companies are producing within the AFSIS project. AFSIS, Applied Food Safety Information Services, was founded in 2001 in response to professional demand to extend the AVIS series to include food safety and other aspects of veterinary public health. AVIS was founded in 1992 and is a joint program of FAO, OIE, IAH Pirbright and AleffGroup. It is focused on List A Diseases such as FMD.
